It's analog transfer time

Well it's that time again...ya know spring cleaning, beating the rugs, taking down the shutters. But it's also a time to review all the archive files and determine which files to convert to the lastest archival format. In this case, which files to transfer to ProTools and hard drive storage.
After discovering a few more unopened boxes of 1/4 analog tapes, it comes as no surprise that these puppies need to be listened to as well as transferred to digital media. And that's where this machine comes in, as shown in the above image. Yes it is old school meets nu skool, but dad gum it, we have to preserve the audio legacy with a digital format that makes it easier to catalog and provide extensibility...a means by which digital files can be modified by changing or adding features.
More importantly, with new bit rate sampling and A/D to D/A converters, it would be a wise idea (at least to us) to store perishable media, and in this case our 7" reels, to a ProTools format. I'll have more details as to how I will make the transfers including all the tech lingo that goes with it.
so, stay tuned.
